Combining Colour in Glass

Photographing these wonderful glass sculptures in a simple manner in my studio.

A simple photograph of a striking piece of glass sculpture with wave like forms and subtle colouring

Capturing these bold yet intricate pieces in my studio was something I relished. Simply photographed atop a large piece of acrylic to provide a reflection to the base.

Getting just the right lighting setup, as always with glass, took a little experimentation. There are certain ‘laws’ when photographing glass, that need to be understood to avoid unsightly highlights and to provide enough detail within the imagery. By understanding these, and tweaking them where necessary it provides the photographer a way of producing something exceptional and capturing the piece’s true appearance. “I work in glass which is notoriously difficult to photograph accurately and get the high definition that is required for galleries and exhibitions.
Richard has expertly photographed my pieces. He understood my needs perfectly and did everything to help me achieve them.” Vikki Stacey
